Ray Moore joined Phantom creator Lee Falk doing the artwork for the first Phantom daily newspaper story around March of 1936. For the next six years he drew the strip for Lee while Lee developed the Phantom story and history. In 1942, Ray's work on the Phantom comic strip was interrupted by World War II. Wilson McCoy, who shared the art studio with Moore, took over the drawing the strip until Ray returned from the war in 1945. Ray had suffered nerve damage during his war service and this was a contributing factor in bringing his career to an end a few years after resuming his work on the strip. |
