With the change in style comes an almost complete loss of the use of the heavy shading on the Phantom himself. Light shading is still used in occasional facial close-ups but not very often. |
We also see the Phantom begin to bulk up and take on a more solid, muscular appearance. Moore began using thicker unbroken outlines, coupled with the loss of quite a lot of detail from the other characters' faces in particular. The Phantom becomes less shadowy and a more clearly defined figure. Almost by implication of the cleaner look of the art, the feel of the character seems more certain. |
