And my guess concerning Moore's style change? After considering the various possibilities, I still feel the increase in the workload ie. having to draw two strips at once, probably had something to do with it. A suggestion made by Bob Griffin, that after four years, the look and future direction of the character was probably becoming more firmly set in Moore's mind could equally have influenced the change in the look of the Phantom. Lee Falk himself may have had something to say about it. |

Regardless of how and why Moore's style changed, his artwork sixty years on still captures the imagination and stands favourably alongside the more modern masters. Ray Moore and his Phantom have earned their place in Phantom Folk-Lore. |
